Description

This is a neoclassical Arab classical medallion design — the kind of refined pattern found on a grand European-influenced hall carpet, where architectural framing meets flowing floral ornament. At the centre, a multi-petaled rosette medallion blooms outward, capped top and bottom by a fleur-de-lis finial and flanked by sweeping acanthus scrollwork with small flower clusters. Each corner of the field holds a quarter-fan medallion set against a pilaster-style column motif, echoing classical architectural framing, while a diamond-lattice guard with small floral diamonds runs just inside the outer edge. A broad acanthus-and-flower meander border finishes the carpet.
