Description

This is a French Aubusson-style acanthus roundel design — a dense acanthus-leaf rosette fills a large circular medallion at the centre, framed by a quatrefoil cartouche and capped with a fleur-de-lis finial above an urn motif at its base. Sweeping acanthus scrollwork with small daisy rosettes fills the upper corners, set against an open ground. The composition is framed by a continuous egg-and-dart band along the top and bottom and a ribbon-and-rosette guard border down the sides.

Crafted in India using 100% natural wool, the dense hand-tufted pile gives this acanthus-roundel design a formal, architectural presence underfoot.
